It is hard to know how much it is going to cost to buy and Epipen if you are overseas.
It is recommended that you bring multiple Epipens with you when you travel to avoid issues, but if you are in desperate need of one I have complied a list of how much you can expect an Epipen or epipen alternatives to cost.
In each country an Epipen cost a different amount depending on insurance and government provided medical coverage.
• France
-In 2016, two Epipens cost around $100
• United States
-Epipens in the USA are the most expensive in the world being
currently sold for $600 for a two pack, if you don’t have
insurance. Plans for a generic version to be sold for $300 has
recently been announced
• Germany
-two Epipens cost just over $200 in Germany
• United Kingdom
-Epipens cost around $69 in the UK
• Mexico
-In Mexico Epipen alternatives are the only option due to
epinephrine having strict restrictions in Mexico, with Epipens
being banned, epinephrine is only sold to hospitals, clinics
and specialist.
• Italy, Spain, Russia (Europe)
-I couldn’t find specific information about the cost of Epipen’s in
these individual countries. The closest I could find was the
average price of Epipens in Europe, being at just below $100
(similar to France and the UK)
